This week, Marshall County Schools have participated in a scheduled Title I Consolidated Monitoring visit with the Kentucky Department of Education.
As part of this process, KDE representatives have visited schools across the district to review documentation, conduct interviews and see firsthand how Title I funds support student learning.
At Sharpe Elementary, we were proud to showcase the intentional systems, instructional practices and student supports that help our Green Devils grow every day. One of the highlights was welcoming one of our visitors into preschool to see our youngest learners actively engaged in hands-on, developmentally appropriate learning.
Monitoring visits are an important opportunity to reflect, celebrate our strengths and ensure we are aligned in providing high-quality, equitable opportunities for every student.
We are grateful for the dedication of our staff and the continued partnership that supports our students and families. 💚

🇬🇧📜 Fifth Grade History in Action! 📜🇺🇸
Our fifth grade teachers are diving into an exciting new unit all about Great Britain, the American colonies and the events that led to the Declaration of Independence!
Students will explore:
🔍 Why the colonists were upset with British rule
💰 What “taxation without representation” really meant
✉️ The key events that increased tensions between Great Britain and the colonies
📜 How the Declaration of Independence marked a bold step toward freedom
This unit will be packed with rich discussions, primary sources, critical thinking and powerful conversations about rights, responsibility and leadership. We can’t wait to see our students analyze history, ask deep questions and connect the past to the present.
Be sure to ask your fifth grader what they are learning about the “breakup” between Great Britain and the colonies — and what the Declaration of Independence really says!
History is coming alive in fifth grade! 💚🔥

Today we welcomed our partners from the West Kentucky Education Cooperative as they visited us to complete our PBIS fidelity check. The bonus was getting to have Mr. Mangels from the board office step in to relieve the teachers during their interview sessions.
This process gives us valuable feedback on how well our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports are implemented and helps ensure we are consistently creating safe, supportive and predictable learning environments for our students.
We are proud of the intentional work our staff does every day to support behavior, relationships and student success. 💚

Every day at Sharpe Elementary, our students in grades K-3 participate in small reading groups designed to meet them exactly where they are. In these groups, teachers provide targeted instruction, immediate feedback and meaningful conversations that build confidence and skills—one reader at a time.
This intentional work helps our Green Devils grow as readers, thinkers and problem-solvers. We’re proud of the daily progress happening in every classroom! 💪📖
